ATTORNEY BIOGRAPHY

Alexander Lian has represented clients, both individuals and corporations, in a variety of litigation matters, ranging from contract disputes to fraud and deceptive trade practices to construction lien litigation. Mr. Lian has represented large (Fortune 500) corporations, as well as small to medium sized businesses located in South Florida. Mr. Lian has a special familiarity with financial services institutions (especially banks), including familiarity with the wide range of federal laws with which such institutions must comply.

Since opening his own office in 2008, Mr. Lian has handled significant matters in various forums: state and federal courts, complex business litigation court, administrative proceedings, and state and federal appellate courts. He has handled international litigation involving a suit for 1 million against a French exporter under the United Nations Convention on the Contract for the International Sale of Goods; administrative proceedings involving Florida’s Office of Financial Regulation; promissory note actions for loans in the millions of dollars on behalf of international clients.

Mr. Lian often litigates and prevails against firms with greater resources because of his attention to detail and ability to formulate a careful and deliberate strategy for the client. In one such case, Mr. Lian attained statewide recognition in formulating a novel theory of law that provided full relief to the client. (See the “Reported Decisions” section.)

Mr. Lian is a graduate of both the Graduate and Law Schools of Vanderbilt University. Before obtaining his law degree and license in 2002, Mr. Lian taught United States history at the college and university level. He is admitted into all Florida state courts and the United States District courts for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida. He is conversant in Spanish.

ALEXANDER LIAN proudly supports the Miami Bridge Youth and Family Services, Inc.
