STEREOSCOPIC LAW: OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES AND LEGAL EDUCATION

“This book seeks to make a contribution to both American legal history and legal theory. It seeks to build on Twining’s comment that in the United States there is a close connection, both historical and analytical, between legal theory and legal education. My basic argument, in one respect following Yntema, is that Holmes in “The Path of the Law” articulates a theory of legal study that depends upon, in ways not immediately obvious, his previous body of work. And that he further extends his most important insights in an assay that came two years later, “Law in Science and Science in Law”.
